The conference Rudolf Steiner as Student and Teacher will focus on Rudolf Steiner’s essence and work from the perspective of lifelong learning.

When, after the first Waldorf School was newly founded, Rudolf Steiner was asked for a verse to speak at the beginning of the school day, he gave the teachers verses that remind the pupils every day that learning and working make us truly human. Children enter the reality of the earth as they get to know the world and participate in shaping the work. Both learning and work are also essential to Rudolf Steiner’s biography.

The work he did during his lifetime and its effect are a reflection of his lifelong learning and teaching. How did he learn and teach? How did he read Immanuel Kant as an adolescent and Goethe as a publisher? How did he perceive the artist Rafael and how the people of his own time? In retrospect, he wrote about his own learning at school, ‘I was awake in everything I acquired myself.’ How did he teach in the different contexts in which he spoke?
